Driven by her self-righteousness, the gran considers herself chastely superior to others because she is a faithful lady. As the fabrication unfolds the usherers discover that the grandmother is morally corrupt, and awakens to her moral corruption through the antagonist, The Misfit. OConnors use of foreshadowing and graphical matter conveys the general idea that their is a thin bank line in the midst of self-righteousness and self-destruction. The element of foreshadowing begins when the grandmother pleads w ith her son, Bailey, to touch off to Tennessee instead of Florida where The Misfit is lurking. hither this fellow that calls himself The Misfit is a gentle from the federal official Pen and headed toward Florida and you read here what it says he did to these people.
